Turning Your Learning Journey into a Showcase: Building a Portfolio for VA Success
Create something and then show it off. During the process of creation you might find what you do and don't like. Looking for a job - even a VA role - is a job itself. Part of that job is to learn and prepare for the VA role you will get.
The steps to take:
- Take some free classes or watch free how-to videos.
- Create some content around a niche from the free class.
- Put a website together to showcase what you created as if it was a real company or client.
- Include a link to this "portfolio" on all of your job search pages/resumes.
What product or service should you choose for this test? YOU - you are the product! Tell the story behind your learning journey. Showcase the evolution of the content that you created to show your improvement and how you applied lessons learned. If you earned any certificates along the way, showcase those by talking about how you came up with a plan and managed that plan to ensure you successfully completed the certification. That was a project you just managed! Make it fun and engaging so that people will be drawn to it and want to learn more about you. Even if you make mistakes along the way - show that you learned from them. Those are some of the best stories.
